Yin Xiuzhen's Works are now Paiticipating in The Museum of Art Pudong's Exhibition "A Sense of Touch".

Created specifically for the exhibition, Yin Xiuzhen's new installation presents the figure of a goddess divided into 19 hollow sections, transforming a traditional monumental sculpture into a series of open, ring-shaped structures. The work continues Yin's longstanding interest in materials that carry traces of life: worn clothing, leftover materials, and everyday objects imbued with personal or collective memories. In this work, however, the materials bear traces of another kind of life—the creative life of the workshops. Remnants, samples, and test textiles from Lesage and Lesage Intérieurs wrap around the edges of each section, forming an unevenly pieced-together skin that reveals differences in colour, texture, and origin.

Across surfaces of translucent organza and tulle, lichen-like embroidered patterns spread organically, crafted by Vastrakala, the embroidery workshop based in India under Lesage Intérieurs. These patterns evoke the passage of time, renewal, and the cycles of life. Situated at the boundaries between monument and garment, skin and architectural space, the work brings together three scales and systems associated with the body: textiles worn close to the body, fabrics that shape the spaces we inhabit, and the divided, open body of the sculpture.
