Wang Luyan, Yang Xinguang and Zhao Hao are participating in group exhibition "Curation and Design" at the Hua Art Museum, which opens on June 22nd and runs until September 8th. The exhibition invites Cui Cancan to be the initiator. With the theme of curation and design, 37 groups of artists and projects from different types will provide their representative works, including paintings, installations, sculptures and images. The exhibition will take these artistic works as the basic materials and invite 8 curators to provide different plans for this exhibition. Through their respective academic backgrounds and conceptual ideas, these works and projects will be reconstructed and combined to form a new narrative text for exhibition.
Two of Zhao Yao's works, Signals from Heaven, 3 lessons of Revolutionary Love in a Time of Rage (2018) and Signals from Heaven, How We Can Start to Heal the Pain of Racial Divison (2018) included in the "End of the Earth" unit. These boxy little houses were brought back by artists from Nangqian and Ganzi. These "box Spaces" created for the purpose of functionality leave abundant traces in the natural environment for a long time and are "spiritual". By moving the simplest of these "Spaces" into the exhibition hall, Zhao tries to preserve as much of their original state as possible and infuses it with two personal stories about the collective human confusion.
In the unit of "Urban Sonata", Yang Xinguan's work "Foxtails" (2017) uses steel wire mesh. This industrial material frequently appear in Yang Xinguan's works in recent years, and such natural objects as foxtails constitute tension. The "nature" in "foxtails" is no longer a reference of lossing memories, but a subject of life capable of perceiving pain and emotion.
