Su Yu-xin was born in 1991 in Hualien, Taiwan. She received her BFA in Chinese Painting from Taipei National University of the Arts (Taipei) in 2013, her MFA in Painting from the same institution in 2014, and a second MFA in Painting from the Slade School of Fine Art, UCL (London) in 2016. She currently lives and works in Los Angeles. She gathers, studies, and processes color substances scattered across the earth's crust, inventing new orders on the canvas through drawing, compression, and accumulation. For her, such landscape painting is a geological practice that reconfigures minerals, vegetation, organic matter, and synthetic materials.
