Wang Guangle's latest installation Two Trees is on view at the 798 Art District. The work extends the concept of his 2023 installation White Box for Gallery Weekend Beijing, in which the viewer's physical act of seeing or entering becomes participation. Rejecting the theme-driven approach of traditional urban sculpture, the artist pursues a public art grounded in relational aesthetics—human experience at its core. The work's subject remains intentionally open, like a parenthesis awaiting the viewer's input; the piece is completed only through the participant. The artist has built a white C-shaped cylinder that encloses the space, offering three viewing perspectives: a glimpse from the pedestrian street doorway; an elevated eye-level view of the space between trees and architecture upon entering the Cube entrance; and a courtyard-like upward gaze at the trees against the white backdrop when entering through the cylinder's opening.
