Ge Yulu was born in 1990 in Wuhan, China. He graduated from the Media Art Department of Hubei Institute of Fine Arts in 2013 and received MFA degree from the Experimental Art Department of Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2018. He now lives and works on the outskirts of Beijing. Ge Yulu’s work revolves around the witty expressions in the public urban space. Through his art, Ge Yulu strives to ridicule the hidden paradox in life. By intervening and negotiating with the public space through his body, Ge Yulu explores a new type of relationship with the surroundings that is more fluid and dynamic.
Ge Yulu was a participating artist in Aichi Triennale (2019) and CAFAM Biennial (2016). His solo exhibitions were held at Fei Art Museum (Guangzhou), Beijing Commune (Beijing), etc. His works were exhibited at Wuhan Art Museum (Wuhan), Power Station of Art (Shanghai), OCT Contemporary Art Terminal (Shenzhen), MOCA Yin Chuan (Yinchuan), G Museum (Nanjing), TANK Shanghai (Shanghai), Minsheng Art Museum (Beijing), 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art (Kanazawa), Art Museum of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute (Chongqing), CAFA Museum (Beijing), OCT Contemporary Art Terminal (Shanghai), etc. He was nominated for Art 8 Prize Youth Finalist Award (2019) and the 13th AAC Art China Young Artist Finalist Award (2019). His eponymous solo exhibition “Ge Yulu” won Gallery Weekend Beijing 2020’s “Best Exhibition Award-Innovation Prize”(2020).
