The Beijing Gallery Weekend 2019 Up&Coming Sector will focus on the work of a group of young Chinese artists.

"Hic Sunt Leones (with lions here)" was originally Latin word used by ancient sailors to mark unknown territories on maps, which were home to dangerous beasts such as lions, dragons and sea snakes. Thus, the phrase is often used to refer to dangerous places into which only the brave pioneers ventured. Other messages include "There are no civilized people here", "this is unauthorized territory" and "The lion is here". It was a western prediction, but today it is a global political one. That is to say, we are already in it, and even for us, "there are lions here" has a richer meaning. There is no doubt that we are in a more complex situation. It is even possible to say that "there are lions here" in China is no longer a prophecy fulfilled, but reality itself, and has been around for a long time. However, those once "hidden" "supernatural forces" and "violent machines" are no longer "prowling around", but become "blatant" and "unscrupulous", constantly threatening our daily life, thinking and even life safety.
